When small doses of botox are injected into the skin, the botox stops the actions of the target muscles causing them to relax by blocking the action of nerve impulses that send messages to the muscles. This relaxes the muscle and prevents the skin from getting creased. This not only reverses the wrinkles or lines present on the face but also prevents their further appearance in treated area. There is emerging new evidence to state that the lines do reverse with continued treatment.

The Botox treatment procedure is completed in just few minutes but depends on the number of areas to be treated. A very fine needle is use for injecting Botox into the specific muscles which cause only minor pain and discomfort and some patients refer it to a small insect bite. The effects of the Botox usually require 3 to 7 days to become visible. Aspirin and any other type of anti-inflammatory medication should be stopped at least 7 days before undertaking the Botox treatment for reducing any kind of bruising. But it is important that you should consult your doctor before taking the treatment if you are taking any prescription medication.

This largely depends on your personal preferences of aesthetic improvements. For those individuals who want to have natural appearance while avoiding the formation of deep lines, a Botox treatment once a year or repeated treatments with Baby Botox are recommended. Some individuals may be satisfied with just one treatment and return for Botox treatment only if they develop annoying lines, again. There are some others who want to attain a smooth and lasting look needs to have repeated Botox treatments after every 4-6 months.

The effects of Botox treatment are temporary which usually fades away in almost 6 months. Though repeated treatments may provide a synergistic long term benefit.

Botox is basically a purified natural protein which relaxes the muscles and stops their action. On the other hand, Teosyal is a kind of dermal filler which fills up the lines and wrinkles giving volume to your skin. Botox is used for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles and lines whereas dermal fillers are used for treating static or permanent wrinkles and lines. Many deep lines such as the frown may require a combination of both treatments.

In April 2002, FDA approved the use of Botox injections for cosmetic uses.

When expert, professional and qualified professionals perform the Botox treatment procedure, it is comparatively safe. Some of the most common side effects may include swelling and bruising where Botox injections are injected and some flu-like symptoms can be seen. In the hands of an inexperienced and unprofessional practitioner, Botox injections can affect the function of the adjacent muscles much more. Nevertheless, this is a temporary side effect that needs to be taken into account when deciding to proceed with botox treatment.

Traditionally, the Botox injections are well-known for treating frown lines, crow’s feet around the eyes and creases on the forehead. However, with advanced understanding of the dosages and actions many more areas are now being successfully treated with botox. Please see the picture above for possible treatment options.

For treating wrinkles Botox anti-wrinkle injections treatment takes only 10 to 15 minutes. However, your total consultation time will take about 20-30 minutes to complete if you are a new client.

Most of the patients receiving Botox Treatment, report a sensation which is almost similar to a small insect sting which lasts for few seconds.

After the treatment, you may be asked by the doctor to keep the injected muscle active for a few hours. Depending on your treatment area, the activity may involve frowning, smiling or raising eyebrows.

It is recommended that you SHOULD NOT massage or rub the treated area and avoid touching it. Unnecessary pressure on the treated area can cause the spread of Botox to other areas which can cause unwanted effects. For at least 24 hours, avoid applying makeup. If it is necessary, then apply minimal pressure. You can apply the powder with softer brush strokes.

It is also advised that you should not play any kind of sports on the day you have Botox treatment. You can resume your normal daily activities. In addition to this, it is also recommended that you should not go for any kind of facial treatment for at least 3 days after having Botox injections.

There are numerous factors which effect the duration of Botox like individual response, previous botox treatments, the dose of Botox injections and the type of product used. Generally, the treatment is expected to last for 3-6 months on average. There are many patients who report the effects of results lasting for about 6+ months but this is not always the case for clients who are just starting to have botox treatments.

It is recommended by CosmeDocs that you should schedule your treatments every four to six months. This will help you in maintaining your consistent facial profile through the first year. After that, you may delay your treatment depending on muscle strength, activity and wrinkle depth. Advice will be given during a consultation upon examining your wrinkle dynamics.

When the effects of the Botox in the treated area wears off, muscle usually regain their strength and restore their normal function which makes the lines to reappear as before. Some patients feel that botox has helped to reduce their habitual muscle movements so they may frown less for instance. Muscles become weak for longer period with repeated Botox treatments so with passage of time it may take longer for the muscles to regain their strength.

The most commonly observed side effects observed at the area of Botox treatment are bruising, redness and swelling but this is only a temporary condition which usually eliminates in few days. Other mild side effects may include muscle weakness in the treated area, pain, headache, flu-like symptoms, muscle stiffness, drowsiness, drooping eyes, back or neck pain, etc. All these side effects are only temporary and quite rare which usually subsides in a week or so as the body adjusts naturally to the Botox drug. You better consult your doctor before undergoing any sort of Botox treatment. See below for more side effects.

The possibility of risks largely depends on the areas of treatment. There is a possibility that eyelids or eyebrows droop while treating the frown lines. The possible cause is not always certain because it may be caused due to the wrong injection technique, excessive dilution of Botox or accidental movement of Botox due to immediate activity after the procedure. If it happens, the droop normally goes away in 4-6 weeks. In some of the cases, eye drops may be recommended to improve the symptoms. Misplaced Botox in the lower part of the face can cause asymmetrical lips while talking or smiling. Again, the effects wear off but such complications are rare but sometimes expected and part of the treatment process. You’re practitioner will discuss this with you during the consultation. Bruising, swelling and redness are the most commonly seen side effects with occasional dull headaches for a few days lasting from a few days to a few weeks have been reported.

The awareness about the ‘Shiny forehead’ after the botox treatment is largely created by media and this kind of look is often avoided by majority of clients. This shiny appearance of forehead is due to the overly treated forehead which has little movement resulting in an ultrasmooth forehead where the reflection of the light gives a smooth shiny appearance. To attain a more natural look with movement and expressions, small doses of Baby Botox injections can be used. The important point to note here is that Botox is also known to reduce the problem of excessive sweating, therefore it is quite rare that perspiration cause shiny forehead after Botox treatment.

Botox treatment has no age limit. The important thing to consider before the Botox treatment is the health status of the client. Therefore before the treatment, we request the clients to fill a specially designed medical questionnaire at every appointment to identify any treatment contradictions.

The minimum age is 18 years for cosmetic use at our clinic. However it is quite unlikely that the individuals of this age group have any indications for Botox treatment. Our doctors can give an appropriate advice regarding the treatment. For medical treatments we take it on a case by case basis. Botox has been used for decades in young children with spastic muscle disorders and at our clinic in excessive sweating cases that cause severe embarrassment in children.

Many individuals want to take preventive measures before the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles which their parents or siblings have. Botox give quite good results for treating dynamic lines that are formed as a result of muscle contraction. So it is possible to have preventive Botox anti-wrinkle treatment to prevent the formation of deep lines and wrinkles. When you should consider this is difficult to advice without a proper consultation and examination of the dynamics of your wrinkles.

This question is often asked by many clients and the answer depends upon the concerns of the individual. CosmeDocs has endeavoured to outline clearly the probable problem areas on this particular website from where you can get all the information regarding the possible options.

Generally, Botox treatment is a preferred option for the dynamic lines and wrinkles which are caused by active muscle movements. On the other hand, dermal fillers are recommended to fill up volume loss and to treat deep, static lines and wrinkles. The treatment options are comprehensively discussed at the initial appointment with the patients as some patients may benefit from one or another or both.

Long term scarring is highly unlikely because very tiny and fine needles are used for injecting Botox. Usually, small red bumps appear at the treatment site which normally disappears in 15-20 minutes. Some people who are prone to pigmentation may get some fine darker spots where the injection was administered, though this is rare. If some allergy or complication occurs it can possibly cause scarring but there is a rare probability of such complications.

As the effects of Botox treatment are not permanent, it is comforting to know that in case of any adverse effects, they tend to decrease gradually in a few weeks. However, some effects may take few months to wear off.

Botox has no antidote to instantly wear off its effects. As the effects of Botox are temporary, the unwanted side effects will eventually eliminate in few weeks or months.
